Default Registration Tips and Troubleshooting

Note that it will likely take at least 30 minutes, and sometimes as long as an hour or two, for your new-member activation email to appear in your email inbox. This is because our server company sends out 'throttled' emails, a bit at a time, to keep the servers running smoothly. Thanks for your patience.

Please do NOT use AOL email addresses nor hotmail, nor comcast, earthlink nor spam-arrest protected ones, since the activation email will not go through.

Usernames: Note that all usernames are moderated/I have to approve them, before you'll be able to post. Do NOT choose a username that's commercial in nature, eg "mysitecom", or sounds unprofessional or childish (like 'boogietrader' or 'peter cottontail'). Choose a decent username, preferably something to do with the stock market, similar to "traderjoe" or "nastrader" or "forexfrank" etc. so we have a professional image here. Names not meeting this simple guideline will not be approved.

How To Register:
Once you enter your registration details, you'll get an activation email that contains a link you must click on, to enable your login access. This is to prevent spambots from flooding the forum.

If you don't see an activation email after 2 hours have passed, be sure to check your spam/trash folders. You can also get a free gmail account and use that to register, I've verified that it works best and is the main free email service I use myself.

CUSTOMERS: If all else fails, contact me via my form at http://www.daytradinguniversity.com/faqs-daytrading.htm with your desired username, password and email and I'll manually add you (this is for current customers of mine only; you have to have bought a product/service from me for me to do this for you).

MODERATION: For now, all posts, attachments, threads and usernames are being moderated (meaning I have to look at them and approve them manually) before showing up here. And there's no private messaging (pms) or email sending allowed. This is to keep out spammers and trouble-makers. Once I get 2-3 moderators onboard, we'll be able to have after-the-fact moderation... for now, I need to see and approve all posts before they're available to read. Thanks for your patience, that's the best way to keep this a commercial/spam-free, high-value content forum for everyone.

Thanks, and welcome aboard!

Default FAQs

Frequently asked questions (FAQs):

Q: "Ken I entered my online course user name and password and it's not working here, what should I do?"
Answer: You still need to register as a new user by re-entering/registering your username and password for the forum, as it's a completely different login/password system -- so you need to register them as though you were a new user, which you are, for the forum.

Enter a new username/pass, valid email address, then wait 4-6 hours to get the activation email with a link in it that you must click on. Then I will enable your access, within 24 hours from that.

--------
Q: "Ken I'm not getting an activation email - please help".
Answer: Don't use aol, spamarrest or earthlink. Try gmail.com. And be sure to wait 4-6 hours, then check your spam folder and trash folder to see if your welcome email is in there. Many ISPs are getting aggressive with filtering incoming emails, particularly trading-related ones lately - so double check it. Try another email address if needed.

--------
Q: "Ken, I can't see my threads or posts in the forums, why not?".
Answer: All threads and posts are moderated for now, as I get the forum started, meaning I need to manually review and approve each post before it appears - please give it 4-8 hours, though it's often much faster.

--------

Q: "Ken - are you going to update the look of the forum soon?".
Answer: Yes, I'm having professional logos made up and will have you all vote via a forum poll as to which one you'd like to see best. I've got extensive modifications and enhancements underway for the forum, so keep checking back to see new features (like polls, contests and other special events and updates to the forum).
-------

Q: I can't register using my email address (it has .de or .ru in it), it says the moderator has banned it - help!"
Answer: Since most spam (including forum spambots) comes from certain TLD suffixes, like .ru (Russia) .cn (China)
and others, those email addresses are globally banned here. Try using gmail.com instead. And remember to
not try and register with aol/spamarrest/earthlink etc, since they block our emails.

-------
Q: I got an error saying "Multiple login detection - account terminated" - help
Answer: I use 2 security plug-ins that detect whether or not multiple user IDs have been registered from the same IP address (using different emails etc) and automatically bans that IP address's userids from logging in, terminating access. This is to prevent people from making multiple fake user IDs. Security here is rock-solid, to keep out spammers and pests.

Please note that I do track and monitor all IPs and logins - so I can see exactly who's logging in, from where - and multiple posters/user accounts from the same IP will get disabled without notice or warning. Also, only post images of charts/technicals, with no commercial or other URLs on them - I won't approve any that don't meet that simple guideline. I want to keep this place totally commercial/ad free, because that should make it more valuable to you.
-------
Q: Help my post hasn't shown up yet.
Answer: I have to personally review and approve all posts (to make sure they don't have commercial urls or spam or other non allowed content in them), and it often takes up to 24 hours. Though it may be as fast as an hour or two. If you enter a post, check back the following day to see if it's appeared yet.

-------
Q: Help you deleted my post after I edited it.
Answer: No posts that mention other services or URLs or any commercial URLs of any kind are permitted here. This is a forum for discussing successful trading strategies, not spamming or self/shill/affiliate promotions or "reviewing" or otherwise mentioning commercial trading services, brokers, software or other sites (except for positive reviews of major well-known services, in specific threads related to the topic). Other than that, No commercial URLs nor discussions of commercial services are allowed in your posts here. I manually review and approve every single post before it even appears on the forums, and anybody that attempts to post commercial "reviews" (often posted by vendors) or URL links gets deleted (and IP-banned) and posts will never appear here in the first place. That keeps the board high-value and happily spam/promotion-free. The only exception is an open discussion of well-known charting software (like eSignal) and brokers in those respective threads.

-------
Q: Why don't you have annoying banner ads, buttons and blinking, flashing advertisements plastered all over your forum, like others do?
Answer: I want to provide you all with a much better, advertising-free discussion forum here. Unlike other stock trading forums, I don't want to bombard you with incessant advertisements. I want this to be a place for traders to come and feel free to discuss valuable trading tactics without having to be bombarded with ads. It's how I'd want to be treated. Demand more. TradingTalk.com delivers - with ZERO Ads, and ZERO ads/commercial content in forum posts.

(Brokers/vendors please note: I do not accept advertisements here, so please stop asking - thanks. This is a high-quality trading forum.).

-------
Q: Help I can't send private messages (pms) to other members.
Answer: I have blocked all pms at this forum permanently. This is to keep out spammers who would attempt to register, then send pms to people advertising commercial services. I want your experience here to be completely spam/commercial free, so I put extensive security safeguards like this in place (no pms, I moderate all posts before they appear, no commercial URLs allowed in names/posts etc) so that we have a high quality content-rich intelligent experience here for all of us.

Traders, hi - I've gotten a few emails from traders saying they didn't know how to register properly, and/or their login hasn't been recognized (did you give it 24 hours after your initial registration attempt? that's required)... Again, the steps are:

STEP ONE: Go to http://www.tradingtalk.com/register.php and register as a new user.
(ForexOnFire owners, register here with your members' login/pass by entering it, here you are still registering as a new user).

STEP TWO: Watch your email inbox/spam/trash filters for an email that has an activation link in it. You MUST click on the activation link in this email for your registration to proceed. Give it 2-3 hours for the email to arrive.

STEP THREE: If you do NOT get an activation email, try using a different email address,
since some ISPs (spamarrest, earthlink, aol etc) may block the email from getting to you. Again, check your spam/trash folders.

STEP FOUR: After you click the link in the activation email, the forum will "tell" me that you are waiting for approval. I will check this and approve you for posting, usually within 3-4 hours.

STEP FIVE: NOW you may post. Click on "new thread" or "Post Reply" to participate in the forum discussions. Note that your post will NOT appear immediately, because I manually have to approve all posts before they will appear (this is to prevent spammers, unsolicited ads and troublemakers from posting here).

STEP SIX: Your post will appear (usually within 3-4 hours after you post it, often much faster).

And that's it.

Remember, you need to REGISTER and then CLICK THE LINK in an ACTIVATION EMAIL you will get, or you will not be registered. If necessary, try a different email address (I like gmail.com myself) to register correctly. Any questions? Use the contact form at:
http://www.daytradinguniversity.com/faqs-daytrading.htm to contact me for help, if you've followed the 6 steps above exactly as listed and are still having difficulty registering, even after trying from a gmail.com email address.

If you still can't register, it likely means your site/server is blocking our activation emails, so get a new gmail.com email address and register with that, though that's the last-case resort.

Thanks, and welcome aboard!

Regards,

Ken
