Default FAQ & Help: Video Downloads and DVDs

    Hi traders,

Occasionally I'll get emails from traders who've bought one of my trading systems who need help with using the downloadable and/or DVD videos correctly.

In this FAQ area, I'll explain exactly what needs to be done to help you get the most out of your videos.

    FAQs: DOWNLOADABLE VIDEOS

FAQ: How do I download the video from the link in the email? When I try and click on the link, I can't get into the download area using the login and password you sent.

Answer: I always personally test the logins/passwords myself, so I know they work fine, before sending out. I get a few traders (<5%) that occasionally have trouble logging into to get a video download. Without exception, I've found when talking to traders on the phone that they've either mis-typed or mis-entered the login and password I sent, and/or they could fix it by using a different browser. Logins and passwords are CASE SENSITIVE. So if the login I provide is "trader88yt" you can't enter "TrADER88yt". And you can't add an extra space at the beginning, or end. Enter everything exactly as shown. No quotes, no extra spaces, no Upper case letters, if your login has all lower case letters.

TIP: Also try using a DIFFERENT BROWSER like Google Chrome, (or, IE / FF whichever one you're not currently using). www.google.com/chrome
You shouldn't have to use a different browser, but if your security settings are nonstandard than you may not be able to login.

FAQ: How do I download the video from the link in the email? (when I click on it, it starts playing in my media player, but does not download).

ANSWER: In the welcome email, you'll see links to the video(s) that come with your system. It's very important that you RIGHT click on the link and choose file/save link as (firefox) or file/save target as (IE) to download. That means use your right mouse button, not the left one you use to click on links on websites. Right click/file save. Do NOT LEFT click on the video link URL, INSTEAD use your RIGHT mouse button, hold it down and choose file/save link (or target)as to save the file from the link that's in your email . This will open up a windows explorer window to let you choose where to save the video file on your hard drive. Please keep a backup of any downloaded videos in a safe place (eg burn a copy to a dvd/cd, or copy to another drive to back it up, in case your primary hard drive goes out in the future).

    OTHER TIPS:

TIP #1) Cut and paste the video download URL into your browser address bar at the top of your browser. It should prompt you to file/save as, as shown below. Be sure to click the radio button that shows "Save File", Not "open with Windows Media Player":

Note: some people may have changed their default browser settings to automatically playback video files, in their browser configuration settings, which may cause the file to playback instead of downloading. If this is the case, I would recommend either a) changing your setup preferences in your browser temporarily, or b) just use a different browser to download your video (Internet Explorer or Firefox).

TIP #2) Use a DOWNLOAD MANAGER software, like the one at www.speedbit.com or www.internetdownloadmanager.com ; this is also helpful for large video files in case your connection is slow, or gets interrupted.

FAQ: After I download the video, I can not see it play back correctly, what do I do?

Answer: My videos are encoded in standard .wmv format, which is playable using windows media player. Sometimes people have old versions of media player installed, and/or outdated codecs, which enable watching videos.

First, try installing the gotowebinar codec, from:

    http://www.gotomeeting.com/codec

Make sure you have the latest windows media player installed, from this link:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...s-media-player

Also, be sure to download and install the latest windows codecs package to enable viewing the videos if you can't see it after installing the latest windows media player from the link above:

    http://download.cnet.com/Windows-Ess...-10662709.html

And, make sure your download was not interrupted during the download process; re-download the video if you've a) installed latest windows media player and codecs and b) you still can't see it, or it cuts out midway or partway through the video (that means that you may not have completely downloaded the file).

Please do not contact us unless you've done the above steps, as they always solve any media playback questions.

UPDATE Nov 3, 2011 -- Tips for Webinar Video Downloadable Recordings

FAQ: Help my webinar video stops playing back 10-15 minutes through and doesn't complete.

Answer: This is likely because you didn't fully download the video, and are watching a partial video. Make sure to use a download manager if possible (I recommend http://www.speedbit.com or http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com ) since my webinar videos are usually 150-250 Mb in size.

After you've downloaded a webinar video, please load it up immediately using windows media player (or other media player) and clicking toward the end of the file to make sure you've fully downloaded it. Sometimes internet connections are interrupted, or brief power spikes or the user inadvertently closing their browser while the video is still downloading in the background, causes videos to not be completely downloaded. So please check your video as soon as you download it.

FAQ: How long do you keep your webinars online for me to download?
Answer: To conserve bandwidth and server space, I allow traders 3-5 days following each webinar to download it. After that time I remove it from my server permanently. Please be responsible and download your webinar video within 24-48 hours after you receive your individual download link, as I specifically ask in the email you'll get. All downloads are IP-address tracked for security, maximum 3 download attempts.

You are responsible for promptly downloading and maintaining a backup copy of any premium webinars. ALWAYS download your recordings within 24-48 hours of getting the email from me with your individual download link(s) - thanks.

I encourage you to a) download your video within 48 hours after getting your download link. b) check that it's complete. c) burn a backup copy to a dvd or cd-rom, so that you have a backup in case of hard drive failure etc. I will not provide free restore-backups to traders, as it's very time consuming (it takes me a full hour to manually upload a 1-hour video webinar to my secure server, and even more time to enable your individual download link and send it to you. So I do not do this, due to time constraints.). By registering for one of my premium webinars, you hereby agree to these reasonable terms. Otherwise I'd spend hours every week reuploading "lost" or "oops I forgot to download it ken" webinar recordings for the hundreds of traders that register. Also, if I kept months worth of webinars on my server, it would slow down all my websites. So for faster websites and fast downloads for everyone, I maintain recorded webinars online for a reasonable 3-5 days following each event, for you to have plenty of time to download them.

Please be responsible. Download your webinar recording immediately (24-48 hours), check it for completeness, then back it up.

FAQ: Ken I can't see video and/or audio when I playback your file - what format are they in, help?
Answer: These are encoded in .wmv video format and should be playable by any current windows media player version.

Try alternate media players if necessary, as you may not have a recent/working one installed in your computer.
I'd encourage you to try the following:

    a) download and install the newest windows media player from here:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...s-media-player

that should work fine. Alternatively, you can try other media
    players, like this one:

    b) http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml
    (there's a f.ree one you can download).

    or this one:

    c) media player classic:
    http://download.cnet.com/Media-Playe...-10518778.html

    install the gotowebinar codec from:

    http://www.gotomeeting.com/codec

    FAQs: DVDs

Remember, all my DVDs are just that - DVDs, designed to be watched on your television set's dvd player. You can watch them in your pc if you want to as well as long as you have dvd playback software installed (as you would need to in order to watch any regular hollywood movie), but I recommend you watch them like you would a regular movie, on your dvd player that's attached to your television set.

FAQ: When I put the DVD in my computer it won't show up and start playing - what should I do?
Answer: Make sure you have some kind of dvd player software installed, like one of these:

    http://www.cyberlink.com/products/po...iew_en_US.html
    http://www.cyberlink.com/stat/xp_plugin/enu/index.jsp
    http://www.prosoft3d.com/dvdplayer/index2.html

Here's a helpful article on DVD playback in winxp:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...02april15.mspx

Alternatively, you can navigate to the dvd's subdirectory /VIDEO_TS and open any of the big .vob files with windows media player, though that's not the best way to view content. Using dvd playback software lets you play it like you'd see it on your tv's dvd player, with the chapter menus and more.

FAQ: When I put a DVD in my tv's dvd player, it won't play (or, it won't advance to the main menu or next chapter) - what do I do?

Answer: Try playing it in both your computers' dvd player as well as your television's dvd player; our DVDs are mastered by Amazon.com's Createspace division and I've never seen a duplication error or defect, of thousands of DVDs we've had produced. If you have playback issues, just try a different dvd player. To advance from the title graphics to the main menu, it will do this automatically, but if you want to skip ahead you can use that feature (next chapter/main menu button) on your DVD player's remote control.

I hope this helps, these are the occasional questions I get from people who are new to using downloadable videos and DVDs. I'll update this if there's additional questions.

Q: I tried playing the DVD's and none of them play. They all start playing but repeat the initial 30 seconds over and over. I tried all three DVD's with the same results. What is causing this problem. I'm using Windows Media Player 11 on Microsoft Vista. Thank you.

    Answer:
They are DVDs (not computer video discs), to play on your television set's DVD player. Like a movie DVD. Or if you want to watch on your computer, you can view them with any dvd playing software (like cyberlink.com's powerdvd, or this one http://download.cnet.com/Easy-DVD-Pl...-10104512.html ). Since they're DVDs, watch them on your tv set's DVD player.

If you don't have a dvd player, then try a) using dvd playback software or b) using windows media player, navigate to the d:\video_ts subdirectory and right-click, play on any of the largest .vob files, and they'll play in windows media player individually.

Occasionally, traders need additional help with downloading video files. Most traders download them fine, but a small percentage of people (<5%) occasionally don't enter the download/login information correctly. Here's some helpful tips.

When you see a link in an email to you that has a login/password to a video download area, be sure to enter everything EXACTLY as shown: lower case, no extra spaces, when prompted.

    Example:

If it says to login to:

    www.daytradinguniversity.com/trader88a/

    Login: t8ajn9p
    Pas: 8ttRe7a

then you need to enter that Exactly as shown. Not login T8AKN9P, or login " t8ajn9p" with extra spaces etc. As with any secure download area with a login and password, you need to enter it exactly as shown. Then you'll get into a download area that has the links that you can right click/file save as to save the video file(s).

Tip #1: Try using a DIFFERENT BROWSER (like Google Chrome, or if you use IE, try Firefox, or vice versa).
Tip #2: Cut and Paste the browser address, and when prompted the login and password, into the correct fields when prompted. That will help ensure you're not mistyping a character or number.

NO REPRESENTATION IS BEING MADE THAT ANY ACCOUNT WILL OR IS LIKELY TO ACHIEVE PROFITS OR LOSSES SIMILAR TO THOSE SHOWN. IN FACT, THERE ARE FREQUENTLY SHARP DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS AND THE ACTUAL RESULTS SUBSEQUENTLY ACHIEVED BY ANY PARTICULAR TRADING PROGRAM. ONE OF THE LIMITATIONS OF HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS IS THAT THEY ARE GENERALLY PREPARED WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT. IN ADDITION, HYPOTHETICAL TRADING DOES NOT INVOLVE FINANCIAL RISK, AND NO HYPOTHETICAL TRADING RECORD CAN COMPLETELY ACCOUNT FOR THE IMPACT OF FINANCIAL RISK IN ACTUAL TRADING. FOR EXAMPLE, THE ABILITY TO WITHSTAND LOSSES OR ADHERE TO A PARTICULAR TRADING PROGRAM IN SPITE OF TRADING LOSSES ARE MATERIAL POINTS WHICH CAN ALSO ADVERSELY AFFECT ACTUAL TRADING RESULTS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER FACTORS RELATED TO THE MARKETS IN GENERAL OR TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ANY SPECIFIC TRADING PROGRAM WHICH CANNOT BE FULLY ACCOUNTED FOR IN THE PREPARATION OF HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS AND ALL OF WHICH CAN ADVERSELY AFFECT ACTUAL TRADING RESULTS.
