Small stops in short ETFs on drops (today had an upside reversal day):

Short ETFs still my favorite play, if they take out new 15-day highs in the sessions ahead, will likely be up and down til then.

p.s. per sec/cftc/ftc regs, none of this is to be construed as trading recommendations, it's just for educational use only, so you can "peek over my shoulder" to see what I'm doing with some of my trades. See www.daytradingu.com/disclaim.htm for full disclaimer.
These pages contain excerpts of actual trades I've made; it's not a complete record of every single trade I make. Some days I'll take trading wins or losses that I do not take the time to screencap and post online; it's a partial record of some of my trades. Note that I am not making income nor profitability claims of any kind. Most traders lose regardless of what they do. The majority of my personal income comes from my training business. I try to capture the best highlights of successful days so you can see practical examples of what I'm trading. There are also days in which I incur losses (and wins) which are not shown. This is simply a partial record showing highlights of some of my successful trading days. No representation is being made that other traders, including customers, will be able to trade like I do. Generally expected (average/typical) trader results are that all traders incur trading losses and most do not become profitable, regardless of the training they get. Trading is a speculative, high-risk activity.

Looks like the markets are finally starting to drop on recent US debt uncertainty; I'm still playing it safe by scaling into small-share short ETF trades; here's a few live positions I'm in currently, for example. I'm very light in equities, skeptic of a new rally unless COMPQ takes out new 55 day highs over 2880.

I'd like to see the market plummet sharply as I scale into new short ETF positions on large size, waiting for new 15-day high breakouts in short ETFs to scale in. Will start adding some more size incrementally, not bearish til COMPQ takes out 15 day lows sub 2740 as S1 and major support down at 2590, the major signal line I'll be using for a breakdown.

Here's some of my open short ETF positions in two accounts; will add to them if they continue moving in my favor, will scale out if the market bounces up:

Sold most of my IB short ETF positions into premarket since nasdaq premkt futures were up. Still in most of fidelity short ETF positions, I've set stops a bit wider, in case market continues selling later today. Overall closing out short ETF positions with tight trailing stops.

Sold out many small-share short ETFs into big gaps up this morning premarket; will likely re-enter if they continue up in-market, on breakout continuations.

Jan 10, 2012 a nice 15.8-point winning swing trade in NFLX, though just on small shares, I captured this example to illustrate my process of why it's important to TEST out trading ideas using minimal risk like this:
