Monday April 26th

Though more stops than wins, I still ended the day profitable Again, thanks to the FTBK "momentum doubler" trade I scaled into during it's huge run today. Ca-Ching.

p.s. per sec/cftc/ftc regs, none of this is to be construed as trading recommendations, it's just for educational use only, so you can "peek over my shoulder" to see what I'm doing with some of my trades. See www.daytradingu.com/disclaim.htm for full disclaimer.
These pages contain excerpts of actual trades I've made; it's not a complete record of every single trade I make. Some days I'll take trading wins or losses that I do not take the time to screencap and post online; it's a partial record of some of my trades. Note that I am not making income nor profitability claims of any kind. Most traders lose regardless of what they do. The majority of my personal income comes from my training business, and though I'm a net profitable (small-share, under 5k shares per trade) trader, I make more income from my business training traders than I do in trading profits. I try to capture the best highlights of successful days so you can see practical examples of what I'm trading. There are also days in which I incur losses which are not shown. This is simply a partial record showing highlights of some of my successful trading days. No representation is being made that other traders, including customers, will be able to trade like I do. Generally expected (average/typical) trader results are that all traders incur trading losses and most do not become profitable, regardless of the training they get. Trading is a speculative, high-risk activity.

I took some small stops on open long swings today, but my short ETFs are mostly "in the money", here's what I'm in as of today April 27th after the bell:

May 6th - Markets sold off hard.

Were you following my twitter.com/kencalhoun 'tweets' this past week, as I warned you of the impending selloff (and why I was wisely getting long in the short ETFs?)....

I ended the day net PROFITABLE in my IB account while the many other traders were crashing and burning with "blood in the streets"... here's some of my trades today (I also had a bunch of stops, but here's my wins, fyi; and today I ended up net green in my IB account w/realized profit for the day, which was great. This is "Just the Wins" for illustration, so you can see a selective example of some of my trades today. This is definitely NOT a complete record of all of my trading activity today, I had many dozens of trades today, many of which were stops. But I ended the day net profitable, which is good.):

Ken's WINNING SHORT ETF (and other) Trades Today, May 6th 2010:

Get this -- while the market was doing a nosedive:

I was boldly going where smart traders go, which was BUYING the SHORT ETFs and nailing it:

Do you see how I nailed the entries and exits in SHORT ETFs today, like I'd been telling you in twitter all week long???
Be sure to subscribe to my twitter feed if you're not already a fan, at www.twitter.com/kencalhoun.

Here's the Charts:
LOOK AT THE EXITS IN MY TRADES, LIKE FAZ TZA TODAY. NAILED IT. FLAWLESS VICTORY.

See above, where I sold the near-exact top, 300 shares FAZ at $15.71 (at 2:45pm) for a $265 Profit? Nice timing.

Watch for a premium webinar coming soon on the topic. Days like this, I like to listen to Pink Floyd's great song "Money".

Trading INSIGHT: Professional traders traded the market one way (just look at the breakout volume in those charts today!).
But amateur losing traders probably traded it another way (panicking out of losing long stock positions, vs being in the short
ETFs in the first place, for example). Try to trade like a professional. Think about the difference. It counts.

Learn from a real trader.

Friday morning May 21 9:17am EST

I went long the short ETFs into yesterday's close again, after day trading them most of the day. Here's my open positions going into today's markets, I'm using stops at just over breakeven.

Look at that FAZ gap up chart today!

Learn more in my upcoming event at

http://www.DaytradingUniversity.com/etfprofits

UPDATE: 11:12am EST: I correctly scaled out of/sold my open gap up short ETFs as you can see here on the open, now I'm looking for potential bounces in the short ETFs, and longs in the long ETFs

Default $937 In Premarket Profits May 25th 2010

May 25th 2010 8:28am EST

Sold partial ETF short positions into this huge premarket gap up (most of my shares); letting the balance "ride" in case they continue. Nice way to start the day with $937 in premarket short ETF profits:

See this FAZ chart? I still think there's plenty of upside longer term, but for now I'm taking a lot of the profit off the table, selling this premarket gap up, it's a "Gift" and besides I like taking winners early and often:

Premarket profits in these, sold premarket for gains, mostly from MGM, also in long ETFs like FAS selling gaps:

My overnight holds in short ETFs are in the money, here's the unrealized P&L broker screencap this morning, as of 8:44am EST. Challenge is to decide whether to scale out to take profits if these drop premarket, or "let it ride". I usually will scale down partial position exits for premarket gaps in my favor, to take some $ off the table.

UPDATE: 9:54am Correctly sold a lot of the short ETF positions/scaled down in them, as the gaps up sold off:
Here's all my executed trades so far today as of this time:

June 2nd sold short ETFs premarket since they gapped down a bit, to lock in gains:

3:11 EST update: looks like that was the right decision, as market rallied long and the short ETFs sold down throughout the day

Default Premarket Winning Trades in short ETFs June 4th 2010

Premarket Winning Trades in short ETFs June 4th 2010
Here's the unrealized P&Ls for my open short ETF positions as of 8:50am EST today; the jobs data release at 8:30 led to a big premarket drop in the markets, which means my short ETFs went up nicely.

Let's see if it can continue in-session; a broad market selloff would be great.
