really newbie :)
Hello all,
I am new to stock trading... The reason I started is because my friend told me of a stock that will be going up, so i bought $1000 worth of it.... it rose quite a bit, so I tryed to buy some other stocks, but didn't work that well... I'm in the military, so I don't have the opportunity to day trade, I guess i'm more of a long term investor (I had the same one stock for about a year)... So now i'm deployed, and i was able to put more money in the stocks. I have about $12k + about $1k in profits right now... I guess I can't trade everyday, cause you need a certain amount in the bank (I'm using etrade), unless you do it like once in a while (am i understanding this correctly?).
So i guess the question is, how do you find the stocks to invest in??? like, is there a website, or is there some type of source to find stocks that should be moving? How do you know if they'll move? The way i look at it, is i pull the chart of trading over past 3 yrs, and if the stocks were really high prior to crisis then i buy them... I don't understand when i should be selling the stock? when should i be buying the stock? couple of times i boguht stocks that were rising, but then they fell same afternoon, and i lost money... once i bought falling stock, and it kept falling, so i lost money... but then i don't sell them in hopes that they will go back up and i'll get my money back (is that right?)... Is there certain times of day where stocks behave certain way(ex: gain at 11am)? how do you know if stock is starting to fall VS fluctuating?
I feel like i can make my money work A LOT better, I just don't know how (i'm 24yrs, in the military, deployed, have school going on, it's kind of hard to learn it), I would really like to have a good invesment, cause in couple of months, when i come back from afghanistan, i have to get out and go to school, so i want to have a little profit...
thank you,
V/R
